General Information
Dehradun Vipassana Meditation Centre is on the left bank of upstream of Rivulet Noon. Further upstream of Rivulet Noon, on the right bank is the pilgrimage place, Santala Devi temple which is about 2 Kms Kilometer from our Vipassana Meditation center. Our Meditation center is well connected by Road, Rail, and Air.

By Air
There are flights from metro cities such as Delhi and Mumbai coming directly to Dehradun Jolly Grant Airport. The airport is approximately 75 mins away from the center in case of light traffic on roads. The domestic flights require you reach the airport at least 1 hour in advance for security check. We request the meditators to plan their departure accordingly.
By Train
The train service to Dehradun has been temporarily suspended due to the renovation of the railway station. Only two trains Shatabadi express and Nanda Devi express running from Delhi will be operating temporarily up to Harrawala station (A station prior to Dehradun main station). The trains are expected to resume services in January 2020. We request you to check for updates from Railways before booking the trains.
By Bus
Volvo, AC and Non-AC buses run daily from major towns in north India to Dehradun. We recommend you book state-owned Volvo buses as these are the most comfortable and generally stop at hygienic restaurants on the way. The last stop in Dehradun is generally ISBT (Inter-State Bus Terminus) but we recommend you check with the bus staff before boarding the bus.
From Rishikesh
Rishikesh is around 53 Kms from the meditation center. A most convenient way to come from Rishikesh to Dhamma Salila is by taxi. Alternatively, the meditators from Rishikesh or Haridwar may arrive by bus to Dehradun ISBT. From ISBT to Dhamma Salila, please follow the instructions given below.
From Dehradun City
Candidates should come to the center directly from ISBT, Railway station or Airport. Following are the transport options available:
ISBT/Main bus stand: City buses regularly ply between ISBT and Garhi Cantt Chowk. The Vipassana Meditation Centre is on the way to Santala Devi temple through the Garhi Cantt Chowk and further through the Birpur/Ghangora area. The meditators can take an auto directly to the meditation center from the ISBT. The center is approximately 14 Kms from ISBT. The autos generally charge around Rs. 300-350. Another option is to board a city bus from the ISBT to Garhi Cantt Chowk and then take an auto to the meditation center from Garhi Cantt Chowk.
Jolly Grant Airport: People reaching Dehradun by air can avail pre-paid taxis/cabs from Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun directly to the meditation center. The prepaid taxi can be booked from inside the airport, on the left -next to the exit. The tariff to the meditation center would be approximately Rs.1300+taxes. It is about 40 Km and takes slightly more than an hour.
Railway Station: The meditators can take an auto directly to the meditation center from the railway station. The center is approximately 12 Kms from the railway station. The autos generally charge around Rs. 300-350. Another option is to board a city bus from the railway station to Garhi Cantt Chowk and then take an auto to the meditation center from Garhi Cantt Chowk.
Autos: There are no metered autos in Dehradun. Autos from ISBT and Railway Station to the center cost about Rs.300 and Rs.400 respectively. Guide them to Garhi Cantt Chowk from where you will be guided easily.
Taxis: Regular Taxis from station and bus stand do not have meters and charge about twice more than the Autos. You can also choose to take an Ola taxi using the Ola app. The Ola fares are generally cheaper than regular taxi fares.
Transportation from the center
On the last day of the course, shared transportation is provided from the center. A mini-bus is arranged to drop people from our Campus to ISBT on the last day after the course completes. The Bus fare per head is Rs. 100/-. In case you are flying from Dehradun airport, we can arrange a taxi at your convenience. Please let us know about your transportation requirements one day before the course ends. The 10-day course ends at 06:30 AM on the last day of the course.
